Latest Silh Studio Update

May 27, 2014 by Kay

Version 3.0.531 was released today and I have run it against my list of more than 3 dozen bugs. About a third have been fixed, about a third have not been fixed and about a third will take time to investigate. I have also found a few new bugs in this version, which has not had the thorough beta testing the last version had. I still see no advantage of V3 over V2 that is worth the additional clunkiness/bugs and would advise most people against updating for the time being.

Thanks so much for taking the time to keep us informed – I haven’t updated from V2 yet and will hold off a little longer.

V3 has some great things in it, but not enough for me to bite the bullet and upgrade. Thanks for the feedback. Have they got a fix on being able to drag digital paper over into a shape? If not, I may never go to V3.

Your expertise has truly been invaluable to those of us that seek higher learning, but wait on those, such as you, that have so valiantly treaded the waters before us to make the journey a safer and better one. We all count on you and your endurance to trek on…we will all await your findings & conclusions and trust that you will guide us to avoid outbursts and frustrations. In simpler words, THANK YOU for all your time and effort in keeping the masses better informed. Keep up the good work !!!

Thank you so much for keeping us updated regarding your findings. I would have been so frustrated had I downloaded the new version. Even though I have the designer edition, I bought it only because I wanted the choice of erasers–not because I am savvy enough to design anything. That being said, I really, really like using my Silhouette.

Ditto on Debbie’s reply and others! I really appreciate your notifications. I am behind as it is and under use the V2 features. Thanks bunches.

I downloaded the V3 and have had some problems with it. Then I received that it was updated so I did that and it changed everything again. The biggest problem I am having is the “save as”. It seems to take forever to save and sometimes saves it as a temporary file that I can’t open back up.
How can I get the V2 back?
I uses to love working on my Silhouette Cameo but lately I’m loosing interest.

I installed V3 when you first said ‘Go’ and liked many of the new features but, and it is a big but: the cut in cut & print is way off in V3 but still works perfectly in Legacy. Is it a known bug or is it just ”me”?

I didn’t download this version, but the previous. I just hooked up my Wacom tablet and it doesn’t work in the Studio. It used to. Did they remove that feature?

I put it on one of my computers and noticed something awesome with this new version, that I have been asking for, for a long time. When you look at the library and choose “see all designs” you actually see ALL the patterns and designs in the window. That never worked before. They haven’t fixed the other folders, like the folders in “my library” doesn’t show all the subfolders and child folders of the subfolders in the window. I’m hoping they will fix that. But seeing all designs and patterns at one time is fabulous, and the way it should be. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

This has been interesting. I got my Silhouette in January. added the Designer Edition in March and got V3 almost immediately. I kept adding the updates and am at 3.0.351 now. So I am trying hard to understand what is their fault and what is my failure to follow the correct protocols. But the bottom line is “Love it”. Thanks for your blogs which help me realize that at my age I am still reasonably with it.

The V3 update is so bad. My machine was working and now I keep getting crashes ๐Ÿ™ Please undo all the changes and go back to the previous version.

I am keeping version 2 for now. I am afraid to update with all these issues. WOuld love the nexting ability and the cut by color but can live without them! Thanks Kay for all your info. I know you will let us know when you think it’s ready.

I have updated to V3 and have not had any issues (knock on wood). I think that V3 is not better than V2 as it seems there was more flexibility with V2 in many ways, but as far as I know, V3 has worked fine for me so far. I have only had my machine for a few months but I do love my Cameo over my old expression and I have done research and found that the Explore doesn’t do nearly what the Cameo can do other than the Wifi adaptor that is now available but that’s only cause wifi is necessary to use the explore. I love reading your updates and find them to be very helpful and informational, thank you for taking the time to post such great information for all of us!

I came to V3 because I was new and lost. I had added the Designer addition to V2 and still I had issues. I upgraded to WIN 8.1 and have way fewer issues. That may be simply because I am becoming familiar with V3. But all of the learning is worth it, love Cameo.
