My first challenge card

April 15, 2012 by Kay

I’ve been making an effort to make more cards (as in greater than zero) but it hasn’t been going real well. I decided I’d try a challenge. That was months ago, and I finally found a challenge I thought I could handle. So here it is, my entry for the CAS-ual Fridays CSC48 Opposites Attract Challenge. I chose purple and yellow for the color pair (it had to be opposite on the color wheel). This card also features a great new (to me, anyway) Darice embossing folder, my digistamp created for the EK Tools Real Estate Sign Punch (click here for details and to download), and a die cut to make a mat (shadow in diecutting parlance) for the punch shape. I am making the shadow shape available for download in SVG and .studio formats which you might find handy if you have this punch and a digital diecutter. If CAS-ual Friday has brought you to my blog for the first time, welcome! I hope you’ll poke around and enjoy my somewhat different angle on crafting and perhaps come away with a unique tip or technique you can put to good use.

      Myrna,
Sorry you can’t get the SVG. I just logged out and checked both links to make sure I could download both the files with no issues. Try again (click the letters SVG) and if it doesn’t work, let me know what happens (error message, etc) and I’ll see if i can track down the problem.

Thanks for looking. When I click on the svg letters it goes to the download area but it just keeps trying to download but never does. Let me try it in the morning. Sometimes that will work.

    Kay
I was able to download the shadow this time. When I went to put it in the file with the sign prints that go with it, I found that it was not there so I went to your blog to download the pdf for them and (you guessed it) I cannot download them. Have no idea what is going on.
    But thanks for the shadow.

I appreciate your perseverance, Myrna. Those 2 files use different hosts so I suspect there is something going on with your browser. That PDF goes directly into the Downloads folder for me so you might check there. And/or try again later.

I like the colors you chose for your card. If you are new to card making it is hard to tell. I love that cardmaking is such a practical craft. I enjoy making them and my friends think I really like them because I made something just for them.
Thank you for sharing the shadow image. I really like your approach to blogging, to me it is like sophisticated crafting.

I love your images for the real estate sign punch. I tried to download the SVG and I cannot get the image to show on my screen. The download circle just keeps going around. Any suggestions?

      Donna,
I just double checked again that it is working. Be sure you click save and not open. Also try at different times as the server may just be overloaded.
