New free dingbat font for die cutters

May 24, 2009 by Kay

I am proud to introduce 09 KutUps, a shapes font made especially for SCAL, MTC, Silhouette Studio and other cutting software that can cut truetype fonts. From the ground up this font was designed with diecutting in mind. Every shape has been optimized for cutting and even the font name and configuration have been chosen to make it easy to use with diecutting software.

I have been the recipient of much generosity recently. For example, in 2008 I spent a month’s worth of nights in the Ronald McDonald House near where my son was hospitalized. If you enjoy using this font, I hope you will be generous the next time this fine organization asks for your support. Download the font here. View/download the character map here. 09KutUps is free for personal and commercial use, but may not be sold or shared without my permission. Please also do me the courtesy of directing others to this blog post rather than to the box.com link. And of course, I would love to hear your comments.

7/24/09 Update: This font has become very popular, and many of you have told me that you have honored my request that you make a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities in return. Thank you so very much. My son had to be admitted to a hospital in another distant town for the last 2 weeks. Once again the Ronald McDonald House there provided support for our family.

5/11/13 Update: This font has been downloaded tens of thousands of times and I am overwhelmed by your response to it and your willingness to honor my request. I have eliminated the mediafire link that had gotten too aggressive and switched over completely to box.net which should be a simpler download. My son has been off treatment for 3 years and  has graduated from college and gotten married. I will forever be grateful to the Ronald McDonald House for being there is our darkest days. Thank you for your continued support!

Thank you for creating this as a font. I am not handy with Photoshop and have been trying to get simple shapes like these into Microsoft Word for a couple hours now!

By the way my antivirus wouldn’t allow me to open this webpage. It called it suspicious and would close the page. I had to turn my antivirus off completely before I could get in to get the font. Thanks for sharing!!

Doreen, this font installs on your computer system like any other and the exact steps depend on your operating system. Check your computer’s help for how to install fonts.

        Hello Kay,
I replied here, because I didn’t see where to leave a comment. So, this is weird, but I tried to download the 09Kutups, I have been using them for years, (they are my favorite)when I through away my old computer, I forgot to save my font folder!!!! Horror, so here I am so grateful to have found your design and I tried to download it and a box came up that said “this file not supported”. Whaaat??? It’s a true type font. I don’t get it. Have you had anyone else with this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it or get the file straight from you or something. Like I said it is my absolute favorite, use it 8 out of 10 projects. thank you thank you

Hi Barb and thanks for the kind comments. Not to worry. That message just means that box.com can not preview the file. Not sure why they chose that particular wording because the font still downloads and installs just fine.

Thanks so much for this! Our family was also blessed by a Ronald McDonald House when our daughter was in the hospital in ’08.

Thank you for the dingbats and thank you for mentioning the Ronald McDonald House. I was in a car accident in 1992 (Chattanooga, Tennessee) and my Mom stayed there. I’ll make that donation to them. Thank you again 🙂
Oh, and you may see these dingbats on my wordpress blog http://www.asmidgenofthis.com

How can these 09 KutUps be inserted in the Silhouette Cameo v3 library? please.

      • Kay says

        October 17, 2015 at 4:01 pm

As of V3, fonts can no longer be installed directly into Silhouette Studio. You need to install them on your computer instead, where they will be available to all of your programs, including Silhouette Studio when you re-open it. If you do not know how to install fonts, check your computer’s help files as it varies slightly by operating system.

    Hi,
I wasn’t able to download this font, is something wrong with the link? I logged in to box, but it still didn’t download. Thank you for lovely content on you blog and youtube

The font is still available, and you do not have to log in, but sometimes Box glitches or I exceed my bandwidth. Here is an alternate link to try. This one worked for me just now https://app.box.com/s/3rs9vtacwzassktn4p0dnxzez407qm2h
