New free dingbat font for die cutters

May 24, 2009 by Kay

I am proud to introduce 09 KutUps, a shapes font made especially for SCAL, MTC, Silhouette Studio and other cutting software that can cut truetype fonts. From the ground up this font was designed with diecutting in mind. Every shape has been optimized for cutting and even the font name and configuration have been chosen to make it easy to use with diecutting software.

I have been the recipient of much generosity recently. For example, in 2008 I spent a month’s worth of nights in the Ronald McDonald House near where my son was hospitalized. If you enjoy using this font, I hope you will be generous the next time this fine organization asks for your support. Download the font here. View/download the character map here. 09KutUps is free for personal and commercial use, but may not be sold or shared without my permission. Please also do me the courtesy of directing others to this blog post rather than to the box.com link. And of course, I would love to hear your comments.

7/24/09 Update: This font has become very popular, and many of you have told me that you have honored my request that you make a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities in return. Thank you so very much. My son had to be admitted to a hospital in another distant town for the last 2 weeks. Once again the Ronald McDonald House there provided support for our family.

5/11/13 Update: This font has been downloaded tens of thousands of times and I am overwhelmed by your response to it and your willingness to honor my request. I have eliminated the mediafire link that had gotten too aggressive and switched over completely to box.net which should be a simpler download. My son has been off treatment for 3 years and  has graduated from college and gotten married. I will forever be grateful to the Ronald McDonald House for being there is our darkest days. Thank you for your continued support!

Thank you so much for making/sharing this file. For those of you having trouble downloading it, keep trying, I finally figured it out. The file you actually download is on the left side of the screen, you don’t have to sign up for anything.

I saved it to a SVG file I made to download SVG files for sure cuts alot software.

I opened sure cuts a lot and tried to import it, not here. I couldn’t find it, oh maybe it’s in my fonts, so I refreshed the fonts, still couldn’t find it. Went to the fonts folder on my computer, there it was, but still couldn’t import it there. SOOO…

I ended up right clicking on the font in the fonts folder and clicking on install. When I opened sure cuts a lot again, it was there!!!

    Hope this helps someone.
    Thanks again for the file!

Thank you SO much for doing this!! I looked all night last night for a scalloped circle file for my Wishblade with no luck. Today someone pointed me here, and this is exactly what I need- and a few more shapes I’ve been wanting, too!!

Next time I am at McD’s I will place a donation in their box. 🙂

    AWESOME FONT.. thank you..
I try to do one random act of kindness at least once a week.. sometimes when I drive thru a fast food place, I’ll pay for the next person and tell the cashier to let them know to pass on the kindness sometime in the future.. Its not much, but I believe it comes back to me someway…

Ok, I can’t figure out what to click on to download this font. Can anyone be more specific? Thanks

Click on the first link (the word “here”) in the paragraph below the images, then what you see at mediafire will depend on your browser and pop-up settings but you are looking for the link on the right hand side of the page that says “click here to begin download”. If you get an error at mediafire, try again later. Sometimes they get overloaded.

hi. I love your work. I tried downloading these and when i go to my downloads and ready to transport them to my font folder, it says font not valid. Am i doing something wrong. I finally got it to stop giving me that error message, but now they dont show up in my SCAL Programme. What do i do next?

    • Kay says

      September 25, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Hi krissy. Make sure you refresh the font list in SCAL after you install the font. If that doesn’t work try the SCAL boards for help. I am on a Mac and don’t know anything about installing fonts in Windows. sorry.

Thank you so much! I was directed to your blog by Robyn the Pink Stamper. The shapes in this font package are varied and useful enough to be an entire cricut cartridge of their own! SO many applications are already in my head. It is very generous of you to allow the file download at no profit to yourself. I will definitely donate to Ronald McDonald House.

I have used this font and was able to adapt one of the flower /circle shapes also for a circle slider card. the other shapes are equally amazing. this would have taken me hours and nours of work even to attempt. Thanks so much! Brilliant!
