With all the hoopla about the Cricut Imagine, Provocraft’s new print and cut machine, I wanted to put together a list of methods that you can use with the Cricut and printer (or pens and markers) you already have to cut out a printed image (or vice versa). I’ve also got some specialty print and cut links for other cutters.

- Pre-printed blanks method Works with any cutter and software or with AutoFill function on Cricut Expression or Cricut Create.
- CD tray method for chipboard Works for Cricut with CDS or any other cutter with software. Printer must have CD Tray.
- Carrier method (excerpted from my 1998 book) Works with any cutter, simple die cut shapes and inkjet printer (top loading preferred).

Alternate method for placement
Can be used instead of the hinge method with CDS and MTC and works to the extent that Cricut inaccuracy allows. Place your image lined up with virtual mat lines, then using a light source such as a light table or window, line up the printout with the actual mat correspondingly as shown in the figures below.
