Can you make the words go in 2 different directions…for example if you have Happy and Birthday both starting at the left but Happy on the top half of the circle and Birthday on the bottom half?

    • Kay says

      November 18, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Yes, that is covered in the last part of the video. You will need to make the circle for the bottom word larger and then drag them on top of each other so that the circles are concentric and the words line up properly as if they were on the same circle.

I am also interested in how you would make birthday not be upside down. I was not able to figure it out

Use reverse path as shown in the video

    • Kay says

      Andi,
Haven’t heard of this issue before. Did you make sure all the layers were visible? If so, report the bug to craftedge with your SCAL version, and OS. In the meantime maybe you could export as SVG as a workaround.

I am also having the same problem. Did you figure out how to fix it?

I got this to work in a pratice run but now when I type nothing shows up. I am ready to toss SCAL2 and the computer out the window!! Please help!

    TIA

      Julie,
I have not experienced this particular issue. I suggest you go to the forums at craftedge.com where you can get specific help for this.

I am trying to get text around a heart in scal, but a pop up tell me to choose an ungrouped single line path to add text to or it will put it on the inside of the heart instead of the outside. I want to put text on the top of heart going from left to right (arched) then on bottom curved

    Thanks,

    Mary

My SCAL2 does not have this and I really want this along with the stitching option. HELP…How can I get it???

    • Kay says

      September 20, 2011 at 8:40 pm

      Diane,
Both of these were introduced in v2.011 so if you have that version or later you should have them. You have to hold down the text tool for a second before the pull down appears so you can select the text on path tool. The line styles are at the very bottom of the appearance window and may be hidden. You will need to scroll down to get to it and might have to move another window out of the way first.

      • Diane Turner says

        September 20, 2011 at 11:24 pm

I had the older version 2.030 but now I have the newer one. Can any one find any single line fonts for free?

        • Kay says

          September 23, 2011 at 2:39 pm

          Diane,
I have a number of free single line fonts listed on my blog. Look under pen fonts under the Fonts tab.

Love your video! Is there any way to calculate the arc of the circle? For instance, I am trying to place vinyl lettering on a glass. If I calculate my drop angle at 1/8 inch, can I make a circle that is 1/8 inch in SCAL, or do I just have to approximate it? Thanks!

    • Kay says

      July 25, 2012 at 11:07 am

      Amy,
SCAL can not do this automatically. Here is an online site that can draw curves based on your inputs http://www.red-bag.com/engintools/calccone.php , but it’s probably just as easy to approximate and use trial and error.

Hi…love this. Question. When I try to do this the top part of my words always go inside the circle upside down, like the bottom of the “A” is at the top of the circle. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the video the rest works out fine, just not that part

    • Kay says

      February 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm

select the circle and reverse the path. If that doesn’t work then start a new document and try again.

  23. Mykel says

    February 1, 2013 at 8:45 pm

I’ve tried it several time, and I can not seem to get it to put the letters on top of the circle. I’m trying to do like two arches…one on top facing down and one on bottom facing up. Is this the wrong method for that?

    • Kay says

      February 3, 2013 at 11:46 am

      Mykel,
I am not understanding what you are trying to do. If you are trying to have it look like what the one in the video looks like then following the steps in the video exactly will work. If you are trying to have it look like something else then you may have to reverse the other circle, etc.
