Part 3 … Tracing Without Tears

February 19, 2013 by Kay

Part 3 of Tracing Without Tears is ready. This edition covers how to trace line art, and how to work with the trace results to get the kind of cuts you want using Silhouette Studio. This includes separating a trace to cut the pieces from different colors of paper or vinyl and some tips on tracing templates.

And in case you missed Part 1, you can find it here or for Part 2, click here.

Thank you so much for this series I have worked with my cameo for about 9 months and you have addressed some very basic issues I have had but didn’t understand why.I am so glad you have cleared up a few things for me working with my cameo will be so much easier now.

Thanks so much for your tutorials. They have been so helpful and easy to understand. I am looking forward to going back and reviewing all you have done and especially to those you continue to do!

Just a note to let you know how much your video lessons are appreciated. I received my Cameo for Christmas and the lessons you have taught have been invaluable. Thanks for all your hard work.

I am extremely grateful for your time and expertise. Like others have said, I hope you will continue making tutorials on other features of the software. And, if I may be so bold, I would love to see a video on how to connect broken edit points. I’ve traced a number of things and when I’ve filled the object with color (or tried to), it doesn’t fill because the lines are not connected. Alternatively, I would be happy to watch ANY video tutorial you would care to do. They’re so helpful. Thank you!

I can not believe how helpful you have been by teaching this series. I have tons of templates that I made in Corel Draw that I hadn’t been able to figure out how to trace to use my Silhouette cutter and now I can…thank you, thank you! I don’t believe I’ve ever watched a better, well presented tutorial series. Thanks again!

Shannon, the video was made in Silhouette Studio version 2. In version 3, the cut styles are under the button with the blade on it then the standard tab.
