I’ve recreated my Vinyl Cost Calculator on Instacalc, along with some instructions (it’s easier than it looks). Type in a few particulars and it quickly returns a comprehensive total cost per square foot. This is great for comparison shopping or for deciding what quantity you should order.
Here’s an annotated screen shot (click to enlarge) with all the info (plus overkill) you need to get started.

This is a great way, but if I buy a roll of white vinyl from Joann Fabric for 8.99 and the next day buy one from Cricut.com for 4.99 (on sale) and I put them in the same cabinet when I get them home. In 6 months I grab one to create a decal, but don’t know which is the one for 8.99 and which is the one for 4.99…how do I accurately calculate the cost?
Forgive my ignorance, as I am new to this and am trying to find my way.

This is for comparing prices when shopping, not for setting prices. Prices should never be set based on prices on sale, but on what you would have to pay under normal circumstances. My buddy, Christine, over at cuttingforbusiness.com has a ton of info that I think you’ll find helpful. Good luck with your new venture!
