Whether you know them by wood type fonts, circus fonts, railroad fonts, western fonts or some other name, these decorative, 1800’s wood type inspired, shadowed typestyles are awfully popular these days. And they’re not just appearing alongside the expected themes, but in all kinds of applications with trendy craft designers like Teresa Collins and the shabby chic crowd leading the way. I couldn’t find a good list of freebies anywhere, so I made my own list. Hope you’ll find it helpful, too. Click on the font name to go to a download site.

I just loved these fonts. I seem to be collecting fonts I may never get around to using. What it is to be an obsessive collector! :>)

I don’t believe it, I have been working with the same fonts and have a half written tutorial using the cast iron font. I didn’t realise they were popular at the moment. Thank you for the large selection. I agree they have been hard to find.

What am I missing? I can’t find out how to download the fonts. Is it the entire alpha or just these letters? Help! By the way I LOVE these fonts. Many thanks.
Kay says
Hi Kaaren,
Sorry about that. I’ve now added a line to the post that you click on the font name to go to a download site.

Do you anything about this MTC settlement? I have a cricut expression, but it’s the only cutter I have and can afford right now. Can I still use MTC? Or are all the files I bought on lettering delights junk now? Please give us your insight.
Kay says
You can continue to use MTC with your Cricut as long as you do not update either MTC or your Cricut firmware. This is more of a long term issue than a short term one.
