Love this, just getting started with copics and can’t afford all the stamps and this will save time with cutting too. Thank you Thank you headed to Lettering Delights to check out the Doodlebats.

Maybe I missed something. Are these doodlebat images also on the Cricut cartridges? If not, how can Cricut draw them? Are the gel pens Cricut markers or do other pens and markers fit in the Cricut?

      Hi Fran,
You need 3rd party software like Sure Cuts A Lot or Make the Cut for this. The pens/holders in the video are from amychomas.com, also a 3rd party product.

Just wondering if you can do the same thing in Make the Cut, since I don’t think it has a shadow blackout option. Love this idea but I don’t have SCAL!

Yes, and I hope to make an MTC version of the video soon. You will need to do a break apart then join to achieve a blackout, then do a shadow on that.

Its so funny cuz i was gonna DM you on Twitter later this aft.
yippee for google… and girl, it’s not SOMEDAY- its TODAY you are full of crafty brilliance!!
(oh but how do you cut it – does it create a shadow around the ‘drawing’ portion… hhmmm how would that happen in SCAL…off to watch the video sure it explains it there.)

I love love love it. I just need to know where to download the graphic set to so my scal can read it. Did you do a viedo on that? thanks for your time and this is a god send Just can’t wait to do it!

I fixed the broken links, (just in time for the $1 sale, thanks!) which should take you to dingbat fonts that contain the individual images. Load them into your system according to the instructions for loading fonts for your operating system, then choose the character you want from the palette. For the win version there is a button in SCAL to temporarily load fonts that are not installed in your system, so that may be an option, too.

This is amazing, & i’m sorry but i’m very new. i downloaded Sure Cuts A Lot (3) & i get how to do this.. but my problem..
“connecting” it to my Cricut Expressions 2?!

    please someone help!! thanks

SCAL3 is not compatible with any Cricuts and the Expression 2 never worked with any 3rd party software. Sorry.

i am confused, does this technique work for cricut or not? because i have read before where you cannot use other programs with the cricut, only their program, the design studio/craft room. i am wanting to do this very same thing for some birthday invites.

If you do not already have 3rd party software working on your Cricut, then, no, you can no longer add it. Pen drawing tends to be “jerky” with Cricut models so the results would probably be disappointing, anyway.

[…] The South Carolina shape is from the Every State Cut It set from Lettering Delights. I used 2 identical files deleting the cut outline from one and the drawing image from the other since Silhouette Studio does not have layers. Otherwise the procedure is very similar to what I show in this older SCAL video. […]
